HEYDUDE makes some of the easiest slip-ons to live in: 177 g a shoe, machine washable, and £39.99 to £109.99 in the UK. Comfort rates high in every source we read. The footbed is flat, so anyone standing all day should plan on a structured insert. Start with one pair.
How we made this estimate
This is a compiled estimate from eight named sources read between summer 2025 and October 2026. We have not worn HEYDUDE shoes ourselves, and nothing below is written as first-hand use.
Those sources are one board-certified podiatrist assessment, three editorial wear tests, two retailer verified-buyer rating sets covering more than 10,000 ratings, one public review platform, and HEYDUDE's own UK pricing, delivery and returns pages, read on 11 October 2026.
What HEYDUDE actually sells
HEYDUDE was born in Florence in 2008 and is now part of Crocs Inc. The range is built around two franchises: the Wally for men and the Wendy for women, both elastic-laced slip-ons you step into without untying anything.
Around those sit mules, boat shoes, trainers, platforms, slippers and, since the autumn lines, proper boots such as the Bradley II and the Flint. Kids' sizing runs toddler C5 to C10 and youth C11 to J7.
Three sub-collections matter more than the marketing suggests. The Work line is CE-certified and slip-resistant, Hey2O adds drainage channels and a drainable EVA midsole for water use, and the Travel collection groups the lightest packable styles.
Licensed collaborations are a large part of the catalogue in the UK: Disney, Marvel, Toy Story, Minecraft, Naruto, Hello Kitty, Mossy Oak, Realtree and The Nightmare Before Christmas all have their own pages. The brand's own pitch is “cloud-light comfort” in a shoe that “slips on easily, feels instantly broken-in”. UK support runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm GMT, on 0808 303 4694.
What a pair costs in the UK
Full-price styles start at £39.99 for the Wally Stretch Sox and top out at £109.99 for the Flint Boot Leather. Those are the two ends of the range, and most of the catalogue sits between £50 and £100.
The markdowns are where the numbers get interesting. We read these off the brand's own sale pages on 11 October 2026.
| Style | List price | Sale price | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paul Pro Classic | £79.99 | £47.99 | 40% |
| Paul Pro Stretch Canvas | £74.99 | £44.99 | 40% |
| Paul Pro Stretch Sox | £74.99 | £63.74 | 15% |
| Wally Work CE Classic | £84.99 | £72.24 | 15% |
| Tahoe Chelsea Classic | £99.99 | £84.99 | 15% |
| Wally COMF Teton Suede | £99.99 | £89.99 | 10% |
The sale is sorted into price-floor edits rather than one long list, which makes it quicker to shop by budget. There are collections for everything under £30 and under £40, a 40-to-50-per-cent band, and an edit that reaches up to 60 per cent off on selected styles.
Standard UK delivery is free over £49.99 and £4.95 below that. A free HEYDUDE Club account removes the threshold entirely, which is the single cheapest way to avoid the delivery fee on a one-pair order. Klarna Pay Later is available at checkout on all delivery options.
There are two separate student routes, and they are not the same deal. Student Beans lists 25 per cent off full-price items plus an extra 5 per cent off sale, while the brand's own EDiU page headlines 20 per cent. Both issue a personalised single-use code after verification, so neither can be shared, and collaboration styles are excluded.
Signing up to the newsletter releases a welcome discount on selected full-price styles. It cannot be combined with another offer, so work out whether the welcome discount or the current sale price on the pair you want is the better number before you order.
Where the sources agree
Comfort is the one thing nobody argues about. The verified-buyer set for the Wally Stretch on Zappos runs to 10,646 ratings and sits at roughly 4.5 out of 5, with 82 per cent of those at five stars.
The weight is real and measurable. The team at WeTried.it put a single shoe on the scales at 177 g, which is lighter than most phones, and every editorial source reaches for the same comparison: socks you can wear outside.
Fit is more predictable than the Reddit chatter suggests. In that same Zappos set, 73 per cent of buyers called the shoes true to size and 96 per cent called them true to width. Both FashionBeans and the Sports Illustrated tester who wore the Wally Hey2O for four months reached the same conclusion, with the Hey2O described as roomy through the toe box.
Machine washability comes up in both editorial tests as a genuine advantage over canvas trainers, and it is the reason the pale colourways are worth a second thought rather than a hard no.
| Source | What it is | Verdict | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zappos (Wally Stretch) | 10,646 verified-buyer ratings | ~4.5 / 5, 82% five-star | Oct 2026 |
| FashionBeans | Editorial test, three models | 4 / 5 | Oct 2026 |
| WeTried.it | Long-term editorial test | 3.7 / 5 | Updated Jul 2026 |
| Sports Illustrated (onSI) | Four-month Wally Hey2O wear test | Recommended, no score | Summer 2025 |
| Dr Tom Biernacki, DPM, FACFAS | Board-certified podiatrist assessment | Suited to short casual wear | Oct 2026 |
| Trustpilot (US store) | 506 public reviews | 1.6 / 5 | Oct 2026 |
| Trustpilot (UK store) | 15 public reviews | 2.5 / 5 | Oct 2026 |
| heydude.uk | Merchant pricing, delivery and returns pages | Primary source | 11 Oct 2026 |
Where the sources part ways
The spread in that table is wide enough to need explaining, and most of it is the channel rather than the shoe. Retailer rating sets collect from everyone who bought and were asked afterwards, which is why the Zappos figure sits near 4.5 across more than ten thousand ratings.
Public review platforms work the other way: people arrive already wanting to post about an order. The US store's Trustpilot page reads 1.6 out of 5 across 506 reviews, with most of that volume about orders, delivery and returns rather than how the shoes wear. The UK store's page has only 15 reviews, which is too small a sample to read as a British verdict either way.
Durability is the one genuine disagreement about the product itself. WeTried.it reports that its own pair held up without falling apart, but notes the cushioning packs down with heavy use. FashionBeans puts the working life of a heavily worn pair at eight months to a year, and the Sports Illustrated tester saw little wear after nearly four months of regular use.
The most useful outlier is the podiatrist. Dr Tom Biernacki, a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, rates the shoes as fine for errands, driving and social wear on healthy feet, and recommends against them as an everyday walking shoe for anyone with plantar fasciitis, flat feet or Achilles trouble. His reading of the construction is blunt: a flat, flexible foam insole with no structured arch and a completely soft collar.
Those two positions are compatible once you read them as being about different jobs. A slip-on for the school run and the supermarket is not the same product as a shoe for an eight-hour shift on your feet.
What works well, and what to check
What works well
- Comfort from the first wear, with 82 per cent of 10,646 verified Zappos buyers at five stars
- 177 g per shoe, weighed by WeTried.it, which is why they keep turning up in travel recommendations
- Machine washable, confirmed by both editorial tests
- True to size for 73 per cent of buyers and true to width for 96 per cent
- Removable insoles on the Wally and the Wendy, which the podiatrist calls the single best upgrade
- Free UK returns for 30 days on a prepaid Royal Mail label, per the brand's own policy
- A real sale structure, with named price-floor edits and markdowns reaching 40 per cent on the Paul Pro Classic
What to know before you buy
- The footbed is flat, so if you stand all day budget for a structured insert. Dr Biernacki names the PowerStep Pinnacle and Superfeet TRIM as direct swaps for the stock insole.
- There are no half sizes. FashionBeans flags this, so take the size you wear in trainers and use the elastic laces to fine-tune.
- Cushioning softens with heavy use. If a pair becomes your daily shoe, plan on replacing it inside a year.
- Pale canvas marks, and several customers report stains that do not wash out. A darker colourway is the safer pick for everyday wear.
- Refunds take up to two weeks to process once the return arrives. Order the second size before sending the first back if you need the shoes for a date.
- Grip varies by sole, so match the line to the surface: the Work range is CE-certified and slip-resistant, and Hey2O is the one built for wet footing.
- The welcome discount excludes collaboration styles, which is most of the Disney, Marvel and Minecraft catalogue.
Should you buy a pair?
These are a good fit if you want a shoe you can step into at the door without sitting down, if you travel light, or if you need something washable for a household with children. They also suit anyone replacing a worn pair of canvas slip-ons, where the price lands in the same place and the weight is lower.
It is worth comparing alternatives if your day involves standing for hours, if you are managing plantar fasciitis or flat feet, or if you need a shoe to pass as smart-casual in an office. The brand's own Office Shoes collection covers the last of those in leather and suede, and the leather Flint and Bradley II styles read as considerably less casual than a canvas Wally.
The short version
- £39.99 to £109.99 in the UK, with real markdowns of 15 to 40 per cent on named styles right now
- Comfort and weight are the strongest and least contested claims in the whole evidence set
- The flat footbed is the real limit, and a £20 insert largely solves it
- Free UK delivery over £49.99, or free on every order with a no-cost Club account
- Two separate student programmes, both issuing personalised single-use codes
Other slip-ons worth comparing
A structured insole in the same shoe. Before you shop elsewhere, this is the cheapest fix for the one weakness every source agrees on. The Wally and Wendy insoles lift straight out, and the podiatrist's position is that a supportive insert adds back the arch and heel control the stock footbed lacks.
Allbirds or Rothy's. WeTried.it points readers at both when style matters more than price, and they sit in a dressier knit-upper category. Prefer them if you want something that reads as considered rather than deliberately casual, and accept paying more for it.
HEYDUDE's own Work or Hey2O lines. If grip or water is the deciding factor, these are the honest answer within the same catalogue rather than outside it. The Work line carries CE certification and the Wally Work CE Classic is currently reduced, while Hey2O's drainage held up through a four-month fishing test.
HEYDUDE questions people ask
Are HEYDUDE shoes true to size?
For most buyers, yes. In a set of 10,646 verified Zappos ratings for the Wally Stretch, 73 per cent called the fit true to size and 96 per cent called the width true. There are no half sizes, so take the size you wear in trainers and use the elastic laces to adjust the hold.
Do HEYDUDE shoes have arch support?
Not much. Zappos buyers describe moderate arch support, at 87 per cent of that rating set, while Dr Tom Biernacki, a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, describes the construction as a flat, flexible foam insole with no structured arch. The practical answer is that the insole is removable, so a supportive insert is a direct swap.
How long do HEYDUDE shoes last?
FashionBeans puts the life of a heavily worn pair at eight months to a year. WeTried.it found its own pair stayed intact over long-term wear but noted the cushioning compresses, and a Sports Illustrated tester saw little wear on the Wally Hey2O after nearly four months.
Can you machine wash HEYDUDE shoes?
Yes, and both editorial tests we read treat it as one of the main reasons to choose them over canvas trainers. It is also why the lighter colourways are workable, though several customers report that marks on pale canvas can set permanently.
How do HEYDUDE returns work in the UK?
UK orders come with a prepaid Royal Mail label and a 30-day window from delivery. The shoes must be unworn, clean, undamaged and in their original packaging, and the brand asks for up to two weeks to process the refund after the return arrives. You can read the full terms on the HEYDUDE returns page.
Is there a HEYDUDE student discount in the UK?
There are two, run through different verifiers. Student Beans currently lists 25 per cent off full-price items plus an extra 5 per cent off sale, and the brand's own EDiU page headlines 20 per cent. Each issues a personalised single-use code once you verify, collaboration styles are excluded, and neither stacks with another offer.
Is HEYDUDE part of Crocs?
Yes. HEYDUDE started in Florence in 2008 and its UK site carries the line “part of Crocs Inc.” in the footer. The two brands run separately, with their own ranges, sites and sales.
Bottom line
Our compiled estimate is 7.5 out of 10, and we hold it with reasonable confidence: eight named sources, more than ten thousand verified-buyer ratings and the brand's own policy pages all point the same way on comfort, weight, fit and price. The disagreement sits on durability and on service, and in the UK the free 30-day prepaid return takes most of the risk out of finding out for yourself.
Buy a pair if you want the easiest shoe in the house to put on and you accept it for what it is: a casual slip-on, not a support shoe. Add a structured insert if your feet are on the floor all day, and start with the sale edits rather than a full-price style, because the markdowns on named models are currently substantial.
