The Solo Stove is an inverted downgas gasifer with secondary combustion for a cleaner burn. The bottom vents let air into the grate and feed the primary combustion, a top down smoulder. Also, air from the bottom vents heats up the inner wall and rises up to the top firebox vents, causing a secondary combustion. That's not all it does. It cooks the smoke out of the wood and then burns it twice! This method produces less smoke and allows the stove to burn more efficiently, requiring less fuel than regular wood stoves.
