"This bottle is an excellent choice because it resists retaining flavors from previous fills."
"Keeps beverages hot or cold for long periods of time"
"11+ colors available including seasonal/limited editions."

"Don’t go off of the bad reviews
I had an issue with custom double orders placed and was told they’d have to get back to me. Well, I began looking up reviews and saw all this negative mess and was so disheartened and anxious and worried FOR NOTHING! The customer service I received from 3 agents on 2 different calls was above and beyond. They follow through on their promises and make sure shit gets handled. They pick up your phone call and remain professional and empathetic no matter how flustered or upset you may be. Please don’t get discouraged by the reviews, the product is excellent as the customer service. I am so glad I ordered as I now have the coolest flask and my order came in 2 days from placing it!"
"I sent a note to the customer service line letting them know about a leaking hydro flask lid. They immediately sent a reply asking for one more bit of information. Within a week I had a replacement lid. Very pleased with the service I've received!"
"Nice bottle. I have enjoyed using this bottle for awhile and it works great for me.
Thanks for making a great product."
"I absolutely love this bottle! The quality is top-notch, very sturdy, and stylish. It keeps my water ice-cold for hours, even on hot days. The lid is easy to use and doesn’t leak, making it perfect for work, the gym, or travel. Super easy to clean and comfortable to carry. Definitely worth the price—highly recommend!"
"This is a real Hydroflask, that keeps ice cold for a long time. I love the Hydroflask brand, so I expected nothing less than great, and they delivered. It's durable; it's bright and fun, and it keeps your drinks hot and cold.
I bought this for my daughter, and she loves it. She loves the color pink, so this really made her excited. It also makes her drink more water. "
"Love the colors but the main point is that it does keep cold drinks cold for a very long time. It never leaks and love the flip top with a straw inside. I’ve used it everyday at work and home since I drink a lot of water throughout the day. It also keeps ice for several hours. I’ve never used it for warm drinks. No weird taste or smells. Very durable and I know it will last a very long time."
"I recently purchased the Hydro Flask 32 oz Wide Mouth with Flex Straw Cap in the Seasalt color, and it has exceeded my expectations. The double-wall vacuum insulation keeps my beverages cold for up to 24 hours, which is perfect for long days out or intense workouts.
The Flex Straw Cap is a game-changer—it's leakproof when closed, allowing me to toss it into my bag without any worries. The straw design makes sipping effortless, and the wide mouth opening is convenient for adding ice cubes and cleaning.
The pro-grade stainless steel ensures a pure taste with no flavor transfer, so my water always tastes fresh. Additionally, the bottle is dishwasher safe, making cleanup a breeze.
Overall, this Hydro Flask combines functionality, durability, and style. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality water bottle."
"Many color choices"
"We’ve lost track of how many times we’ve accidentally dropped or knocked over our water bottles, but the robust, stainless steel build of the Hydro Flask can shoulder the ups and downs of outdoor adventures.
We put the Hydro Flask through a series of durability tests, including hard falls onto uneven rocky landings. The bottle weathered these beatings with only a few dings and scuffs."
"Hydro Flask hypes the insulating prowess of its bottles, and the Wide Mouth more than lives up to expectations. Made with a double wall vacuum insulation, the Hydro Flask can accept cold and hot liquids. "
"Easy to add ice/supplements"
"Lots of accessory options"
Cons:
"While I love almost every feature of my Hydro Flask, it's hard not to see that it's overpriced. For my favorite 32 oz. version, I paid $44.95. That's $10 or even $20 more than some other bottles of the same capacity."
"32oz Wide Mouth is 3.5 inches diameter – too wide for standard car cup holders."
"The powder coating scratches and chips fairly easily, especially when we dropped it on pavement, and it dents relatively quickly."
"32oz weighs approximately 10.6oz empty (stainless steel construction)."
"BBB shows complaints about denied warranty claims for cosmetic damage."
"Heavy & Expensive"
"I bought a Hydro Flask for its advertised heat retention, and it failed to keep liquids hot. Hydro Flask sent a replacement — also defective. They sent a third bottle — same issue.
That’s three Hydro Flasks, all unable to perform their most basic function.
While customer service did replace each bottle, repeatedly sending defective products points to a serious quality control issue. A premium-priced brand should not require multiple replacements, especially when every one fails the same way.
Based on my experience, Hydro Flask no longer lives up to its reputation."
"For that price i'd expect more durability.
Gets a lot of bumps and seems not to last long at all."
"I contacted customer service to report that my package was open and appeared to have missing items. I spoke with either Melisa or Lisa, but the representative was not friendly and kept repeating herself as if i dont understand what she was saying. My package arrived in three separate shipments, and the shipping process has been quite slow. I regret not heeding the negative reviews I encountered, as I now have to navigate this unsatisfactory customer service and poor quality products. It would be beneficial for corporate to review call recordings to understand the unhelpful and rude behavior of their customer representatives."
"Horrible!! I placed an order that was personalized with my son’s name. It’s been over a month and still didn’t receive it. I’ve called customer service a few times and was told it’s on its way. I asked for a refund and was told no. Their customer service is awful and full of lies!"
"The colors are amazing, but they do easily get pencil marks if you’re working on a project and smack it with your pencil (super easy to clean though)"
"The bottle DENTS very easily and if the "straw" is not pressed down all the way to close it, water leaks out from the straw if the bottle falls over or is laid on its' side. Also, every time the "straw" is closed it sprays water because there is residual water that remains in the "hole" that the straw snaps into to close. The bottle keeps water cold but I don't think I would buy another since it DENTS SO EASILY."
"My experience with the Hydroflask 24oz water bottle has been mediocre at best. I have not used it for hot beverages, only ice/cold water, and the cold water becomes room temperature fairly quickly (4-6 hours depending on the ambient temperature). My old FIFTY/FIFTY water bottle does a MUCH BETTER job of keeping water cold (12-18 hours)."
"I bought the seasalt colorway in December 2024. The build quality is solid except for the flex straw. The flex straw encourages mold and bacteria growth around the spout hinge. I tried my best to remove the spout many times (shown in a youtube video) but it's on there really tight. The non-removable spout makes it impossible to clean all the bacteria in the hinge and all around that mouthpiece.
Also, the straw squirts water at you whenever you open it.
Going to try the Owala next. Hoping that one's easier to clean."
"I would give this 5 stars if it didn’t leak, because it can be put in the dishwasher and is easy to use, and i like the color…HOWEVER I cannot have a bottle that LEAKS! I put this in my in my bag or around a number of other things in my car and I just cannot have things ruined by water leaking everywhere. That is a Total deal breaker. I have had this for over a year and have 2 of them. The larger one that i use the most leaks. I won’t buy any more of this brand. I’m on Amazon looking for a different brand."
Final Thoughts:
"While I love almost every feature of my Hydro Flask, it's hard not to see that it's overpriced. For my favorite 32 oz. version, I paid $44.95. That's $10 or even $20 more than some other bottles of the same capacity."
"Durable with great insulation, the Hydro Flask 32oz Wide Mouth with Flex Cap is ideal for the daily grind — but it can be tricky to put on the lid correctly."
"Chances are high that you've been seeing these colorful bottles popping up at your local gym, crag, and campsites over the last few years. A combination of style, simplicity, and insulated stainless steel, with a solid dose of overall utility, makes this bottle such a high performer. In our tests, it proved easy to use, resistant to residual flavors, and very quick and easy to clean. We used it to take our hot coffee or cold juice into the office, as well as on cold-weather day trips to the outdoors for hot sips throughout the day. Additionally, the company proved to us that they truly value their customers when the cap broke in our drop test."
"The price tag might be steeper, but the Hydro Flask Wide Mouth is a good investment – a water bottle with excellent insulating capabilities, wide-ranging customization options, and a robust design. It’s an all-purpose water bottle that will last for years of trail miles or everyday hydration
We put the Hydro Flask Wide Mouth up against the dry climate of Southeastern Utah, using it to keep us hydrated during days hiking and climbing in the desert sun. With its superior insulation and attractive design, the Hydro Flask Wide Mouth shined with its blend of style and practicality.
Those gearing up for an ultralight backpacking trip might think twice about its weight – and pick another option from our best water bottles guide. The Hydro Flask is an excellent multi-purpose bottle that’s best suited for at-home sipping and for tackling miles of switchbacks."
"Trustpilot Rating: 2.2 out of 5 stars (Poor rating)
Total Reviews: 131 reviews
Trustpilot reveals significant customer service and product quality control issues. Recurring complaints include: rust appearing after 1 week of use, lids leaking after a few months, warranty claims denied for defects customers believe are manufacturing issues, shipping delays from direct website orders. Positive reviews praise insulation when products work, but the 2.2-star rating indicates serious dissatisfaction with durability, customer service responsiveness, and warranty policy enforcement."
"Amazon (Hydro Flask Water Bottle - Insulated Stainless Steel - Wide Mouth Flex Straw Lid, Non Spill, Leakproof and Refillable in 32 Oz Holiday Punch):
Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars
Total Reviews: 31,034 global ratings
Amazon customers are significantly more satisfied than Trustpilot reviewers. Customers praise the water bottle's ability to keep drinks cold all day and maintain ice, while also appreciating its cute design, color variety, and convenient straw feature. The durability receives mixed feedback - while some say it's indestructible in the dishwasher, others report it denting easily. Leak resistance and value for money also get mixed reviews, with some finding it worth the price while others consider it overpriced."
"Should you buy a Hydro Flask?
✅ Buy Hydro Flask if:
- You care about keeping things at the right temperature: It has been shown to keep water cold for up to 36 hours, which is four hours longer than YETI's heat retention.
- You don't want to sweat: The double-wall vacuum insulation keeps condensation from forming on the outside, so you can carry it in bags or use it in hot gyms without leaving water rings.
- You like to personalize things: The brand has more than 11 colors (including seasonal and limited editions) and at least 5 lid styles (Flex Cap, Straw Lid, Flex Sip, etc.) that you can buy separately.
- You need a bottle that doesn't let flavors mix: The 18/8 Pro-Grade Stainless Steel inside keeps your water from tasting like other drinks.
- You want it to be easy to clean and fill: The wide mouth design makes it easy to add ice cubes and supplements, and modern models are dishwasher safe.
❌ Don't buy Hydro Flask if
- You're on a budget: At $44.95 for a 32oz bottle, you're paying a brand premium. Other brands, like Iron Flask ($24.95) and CamelBak ($22-28), make similar insulation claims for 45-50% less money.
- You need to be able to fit in a cup holder: The 32oz Wide Mouth is too wide to fit in standard car cup holders because it has a 3.5-inch diameter.
- You are hard on your stuff: The powder coating scratches and chips easily on pavement, and the steel dents quickly when it hits something. The brand's warranty makes it clear that these kinds of cosmetic damage are not covered.
- You need a perfect straw lid because the straw lid accessory is known to leak when tipped over, squirt leftover water when opened, and have a hinge that can't be removed, which can help mold and bacteria grow.
- You are an ultralight backpacker: The 32oz model weighs 10.6oz empty, which is a noticeable weight penalty that makes it less than ideal for long, weight-sensitive hikes.
- Your top priority is to keep the most heat: Hydro Flask works well for 12 hours, but Stanley works better because it can keep heat for up to 24 hours.
Bottom Line
Hydro Flask is still a high-end, very useful insulated bottle that is worth the money because it keeps drinks cold and hot better than YETI, has a sweat-free exterior, and can be customized in many ways. It is a great car for getting to work, going to the gym, and going on casual hikes.
But buyers need to be realistic about what it can and can't do. It is very likely to get dents and paint chips when it hits something, the popular 32oz size won't fit in car cup holders, and the straw lid has some serious design problems that make it leak and make it dirty. If you need insulation that can handle drops or are just looking for the best deal, budget options offer similar basic insulation for up to half the price."
How long does Hydro Flask actually keep drinks cold?
Official claim: 24 hours cold retention. Real-world verified: 24-48 hours with ice.
Consumers can reliably expect all-day cold retention, with ice often surviving overnight.
Does Hydro Flask dent easily when dropped?
Like most un-booted stainless steel bottles, it is susceptible to cosmetic denting upon hard impact. No quantifiable dent rate data is publicly available.
Are Hydro Flask lids truly leak-proof?
Closed-system caps are reliably leak-proof, while straw lids offer spill resistance but are not intended to be fully leak-proof when inverted.
Is Hydro Flask dishwasher safe?
Current retail models are verified dishwasher safe, though handwashing is often preferred by enthusiasts to extend absolute lifespan.
How does Hydro Flask compare to YETI?
YETI offers thicker steel (heavier, harder to dent), while Hydro Flask offers a lighter carry weight and distinct powder-coat aesthetics.
Is Hydro Flask good for hiking?
Excellent for day hiking and camping, though ultralight hikers may prefer plastic or titanium alternatives.
Is Hydro Flask heavy?
It carries the standard weight penalty of double-wall vacuum insulation.
Does Hydro Flask offer a lifetime warranty?
Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturer defects (e.g., loss of insulation, rattling).
The warranty reliably covers structural manufacturing defects, but users should not expect replacements for drop damage.
