YCZ sells decent marine and woody colognes for about $17 a bottle, and 331 Walmart buyers rate the flagship 4.6 out of 5. Independent testing puts real wear at three to four hours, not the six to eight YCZ claims. Buy it as a cheap daily scent, not a designer replacement.
How we made this estimate
We compiled five independent sources between 14 and 16 August 2026: 331 verified Walmart buyer ratings, 17 Trustpilot reviews of the store itself, the Fragrantica community entry for Midnight Marine, one independent tester's daily-wear write-up, and the merchant's own live product feed for prices. We did not wear the fragrance ourselves, so every claim about how it smells and how long it lasts is attributed to the source that made it.
What YCZ actually sells
YCZ is a direct-to-consumer fragrance and skincare brand trading from yczfragrance.com on Shopify. Its about page names the operating entity as Hong Kong Feike Industry Limited, gives a Kwun Tong address in Kowloon, and dates the business to 2015.
The fragrance line is small. Fragrantica catalogues seven YCZ scents, the earliest from 2024 and the newest from 2025, which makes this a young perfume house rather than an established one with a back catalogue.
The anchor product is YCZ Midnight Marine Cologne, a 50ml eau de parfum. The brand lists pink pepper, grapefruit and bergamot on top, nutmeg, jasmine and ginger through the heart, and incense, cedar and musk in the base. Fragrantica files it as a woody aquatic and adds ambroxan to the base listing.
Around it sit Crimson Oud, Jade Breeze, Amber Glow, Sapphire Sand, Club Gent's Aroma and Breath of Sky for men, Golden Sands and Eternal Love on the women's side, plus multi-bottle sets. A separate skincare range covers neck firming cream, a caffeine collagen eye mask, a cleansing mud mask and a facial care trio.
What buyers actually agree on
Across every source we read, one thing repeats: people like how it smells for the money. The recurring buyer phrasing is that it smells more expensive than it costs.
The second point of agreement is store conduct. Trustpilot reviewers describe fast support responses, including one buyer whose bottle arrived damaged and who reported a reply inside two hours in July 2026, and another whose transit problem was resolved in January 2026.
Here is the spread across sources, all checked in August 2026.
| Source | What it measures | Score |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart buyer reviews | 331 ratings on the 1.7oz Charm Unfolds Marine bottle | 4.6 / 5 |
| Trustpilot | 17 reviews of the store, not the scent | 4.2 / 5 |
| Dapper and Groomed | One tester, daily wear over an extended period | 7.75 / 10 |
| Fragrantica community | Enthusiast reports on Midnight Marine | Split, no settled score |
| Merchant product feed | Live prices across the catalogue, 14 August 2026 | Reference only |
Note the volumes. The 4.6 rests on 331 buyers, the 4.2 on 17. Treat the Walmart figure as the stronger signal about the product and the Trustpilot figure as a small sample about the shop.
The six-hour claim does not survive testing
This is where sources pull apart, and it matters more than anything else on the page.
The YCZ product page for Midnight Marine advertises 6-8 hours of wear. The independent tester at Dapper and Groomed measured three to four hours on skin, longer on clothing, and scored longevity 6.5 and projection 6 out of 10 while giving scent itself a 9.
One Fragrantica user goes considerably further, reporting close to no projection and 30 to 60 minutes of longevity even when oversprayed. Another Fragrantica report calls both longevity and projection strong. Walmart buyers, meanwhile, routinely describe it as long lasting without being overpowering.
The honest reading of that spread is that this is a fresh citrus-and-marine composition built on light, volatile top notes, and those fade fast on warm or dry skin. Buyers comparing it to a $20 drugstore bottle call it long lasting; anyone comparing it to a $120 designer eau de parfum will not.
If you need a scent that survives a nine-hour workday from one morning application, the evidence says this is not it. Plan to reapply at lunch, or spray onto a shirt collar or jacket where multiple sources agree it lasts longer.
What you are really paying for
YCZ prices are genuinely low, and the sale prices are the real prices. When we pulled the merchant's live product feed on 14 August 2026, Midnight Marine 50ml sat at $16.99 against a $25.00 compare-at, Crimson Oud, Jade Breeze and Amber Glow at $17.99 each against $45.00, and Sapphire Sand at $19.99 against $45.00.
The discount headlines deserve a sceptical eye. A 60 percent saving is only a saving if anyone ever paid the $45 anchor, and the same reductions were already running when we first tracked the store in early August 2026 with no end date attached. Read the $17 as the price and ignore the percentage.
Bundles are where the arithmetic improves. The store runs a build-your-own three-for-$45 combo, quantity breaks of 10 percent on two items and 15 percent on three applied automatically at the cart, and pre-built sets: a four-bottle men's cologne set at $54.99 and a five-bottle scent wardrobe at $85.99.
Shipping is free storewide with no stated minimum, and Klarna is offered at checkout for instalments.

The skincare side runs the same playbook at steeper ratios: the neck firming cream at $16.99 against a $79.96 anchor, the essential facial care trio at $19.99 against $70.00, a peptide neck mask set at $12.99. We found no independent testing of the skincare line at all, so we would treat it as an add-on rather than a reason to order.
Returns, delivery and the Hong Kong address
The published returns policy gives 30 days from delivery and, unusually for fragrance, accepts items described as lightly used or in acceptable condition. That matters when you are buying a scent unsniffed.
Two conditions take some of the shine off. You pay return postage unless the item was wrong, damaged or defective, and you must contact support before sending anything back, because unauthorised returns may not be accepted. Refunds are stated at 3-10 business days once approved.
Delivery is 1-3 business days of processing plus 5-10 business days in transit for US orders, and 10-20 business days internationally, with customs and duties left to the recipient. That is slow by Amazon standards and worth knowing before you order a gift.
On the question behind most searches for this brand: the operating company, its Kowloon address, a US support number and an email address are all published, the returns terms are written down, and the products are sold through Walmart and Amazon marketplace listings as well as the brand's own store. Returns run back to Hong Kong, so factor that into the postage maths on a $17 bottle.
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- Well received scent profile: 331 Walmart buyers average 4.6 out of 5, and the independent tester scored the smell itself 9 out of 10.
- Prices that hold. Colognes sit at $17-$20 in the live product feed, not just in a countdown banner.
- Free shipping storewide with no minimum, plus Klarna instalments at checkout.
- A 30-day window that accepts lightly used bottles, which is rare in fragrance.
- Support that Trustpilot reviewers describe as fast, including a reported two-hour reply on a damaged-bottle claim.
Weaknesses
- The advertised 6-8 hour longevity is not supported. The independent tester measured 3-4 hours on skin, and one Fragrantica user reports under an hour.
- Projection is consistently described as close to the skin, so it will not carry across a room.
- Compare-at prices look like permanent anchors rather than genuine former prices.
- Thin third-party evidence base. Seven fragrances on Fragrantica, 17 Trustpilot reviews, and no independent testing of the skincare range.
- Multiple customers report bottles damaged in transit, and one March 2026 Trustpilot complaint alleges pressure over a review during a refund, which YCZ disputes.
- Slow delivery and a Hong Kong return address make sending anything back uneconomic on a single bottle.
Who should buy YCZ, and who should not
Buy it if you want two or three inexpensive scents to rotate through a week, you are building a first fragrance collection, you reapply during the day anyway, or you want a low-stakes gift that looks better than its price.
Skip it if you want one bottle that lasts from morning to evening, you want noticeable sillage in a room, you need the parcel this week, or you are the kind of buyer who will want to return a scent you dislike and would resent posting it back to Hong Kong.
What to compare it against
The independent tester placed Midnight Marine in the same fresh, oceanic family as Davidoff Cool Water and Hugo Boss Dark Blue while stating plainly that it is not a clone of either. Those two are the sensible reference points if you want the same character with a longer track record behind it.
If longevity is the deciding factor, the category answer is to look at eau de parfum concentrations from established houses through discount fragrance retailers rather than at another young direct-to-consumer label. If breadth is the deciding factor, a discovery or decant set from a fragrance sampling service lets you test several before committing to a full bottle.
We have not price-checked those alternatives ourselves, so treat them as directions to look rather than as costed recommendations.
YCZ fragrance questions, answered
Is YCZ fragrance legit?
The evidence says yes, with caveats. YCZ publishes its operating entity, Hong Kong Feike Industry Limited, along with a Kowloon address, a US phone number and a support email; it holds a 4.2 out of 5 across 17 Trustpilot reviews with the owner replying to complaints; and its bottles are sold through Walmart and Amazon marketplace listings. Automated website-trust scanners score the domain poorly, but those tools lean heavily on domain age and registrar privacy, which penalises any young store. The real risks here are performance and postage, not payment.
How long does YCZ cologne actually last?
The brand advertises 6-8 hours. An independent tester measured three to four hours on skin and longer on fabric. One Fragrantica user reports 30 to 60 minutes even when oversprayed, while Walmart buyers commonly call it long lasting. Expect a half-day scent and spray onto clothing if you need more.
Is YCZ Midnight Marine a Davidoff Cool Water clone?
No. The independent tester who wore it daily compared it to Cool Water and Hugo Boss Dark Blue for its clean oceanic character but specifically said it is not a clone. Fragrantica lists it as a woody aquatic launched in 2024 with pink pepper, grapefruit, bergamot, lemon and mint on top over ambroxan, incense, cedar and musk.
Where is YCZ fragrance made?
YCZ does not disclose a manufacturing location. Its about page names Hong Kong Feike Industry Limited at an address in Kwun Tong, Kowloon, dates the business to 2015 and refers to ethical sourcing and responsible production without naming suppliers or factories.
Can you return YCZ cologne if you do not like the scent?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, and the policy accepts items that are lightly used or in acceptable condition. You must contact support before returning anything, you pay the postage unless the order was wrong or damaged, and refunds take 3-10 business days after approval.
How long does YCZ take to deliver?
Processing takes 1-3 business days. US orders then take 5-10 business days in transit; international orders take 10-20 business days, with any customs charges payable by the recipient. Shipping is free storewide with no stated minimum.
Is YCZ cologne worth it?
At $17 a bottle, yes, provided you buy it for what it is. Buyers rate the scent highly and the price is real rather than a countdown-timer illusion. Judged against a designer eau de parfum on wear time and projection, it falls short, and no discount changes that.
Bottom line
YCZ makes pleasant, well-liked, genuinely cheap fragrance and sells it on honest-looking terms: free shipping, a 30-day window that tolerates a used bottle, and prices that stay put. The gap between the advertised 6-8 hours and the three to four an independent tester measured is the one thing we would not let a buyer walk into blind.
Our confidence in that verdict is moderate rather than high. The buyer sample is large but retailer-side, the enthusiast sample is small and split, and nobody independent has tested the skincare line at all.
Buy two or three bottles as a rotation, expect to reapply, and treat the sets as the only real discount on the page.
